TUSCULUM VOLLEYBALL BEATS CATAWBA IN FIVE GAMES

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Vivian Lacy recorded 33 kills and 13 digs to lead the Tusculum College volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over visiting Catawba College Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Arena.  The Pioneers (16-7, 5-1 in South Atlantic Conference) win its eighth straight match as they won by scores of 30-26, 31-33, 30-20, 27-30, 15-9.  Tusculum also sweeps the season series against Catawba (17-4, 3-3 SAC).

 

                Lacy tallied 30-plus kills for a second straight match and fourth time this season. Rookie Katie Luebke added 17 kills, 11 digs and three blocks, while Mariana Rezende finished with 67 assists, 16 digs and seven blocks.

 

                Melissa Powers tallied 28 kills, while Melissa Griffith accounted for 17 kills and 14 digs in the loss.  Andi Anderson finished with 56 assists for the Catawba Indians.

 

                Tusculum returns to action Wednesday night when the Pioneers travel to Lincoln Memorial University for a 6:30 p.m. match in Harrogate, Tenn.  Catawba will host Brevard on Tuesday night.
