TUSCULUM VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS LMU 3-0,

PIONEERS WIN 9TH STRAIGHT

 

            HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Heather MacArthur recorded 10 kills and a .769 hitting percentage to lead the Tusculum College volleyball team to a three-game sweep over host Lincoln Memorial University Wednesday night at Mars Gym.  The Pioneers (18-9, 6-1 in South Atlantic Conference) win their ninth straight match and remain in sole possession of second place in the league.  Tusculum won by scores of 30-19, 30-20, 30-25.

 

            MacArthur posted 10 kills in her 13 attempts without an error, while Vivian Lacy added a dozen kills and nine digs.  Kelsey Hayden added 10 kills and four blocks to go along with a .389 hitting percentage.

 

            Mariana Rezende added 38 assists, six kills and three blocks, while Alexis Rowles led Tusculum defensive efforts with 18 digs.

 

            LMU had four players with five kills each, including Amanda Horenkamp, Alison Hess, Cami Lefeld and Ashley Knight.  Lauren Kiwacka tallied 21 assists, while Horenkamp finished with 10 digs for the Lady Railsplitters (14-8, 3-3 SAC).

 

            Tusculum returns to action Friday night when the Pioneers host Lenoir-Rhyne College for a 7 p.m. match.  The Pioneers have won 13 of their last 14 matches.
