VIVIAN LACY BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD, TUSCULUM SWEEPS CONCORD

 

                ATHENS, W.Va. --- Vivian Lacy recorded 17 kills and a school record .895 hitting percentage as Tusculum College swept host Concord University in three games Tuesday night in college volleyball.  Tusculum (20-8) records its first 20-win season in five years as the won the match by scores of 30-19, 30-15, 30-17.

 

                Lacy tallied 17 kills on 19 attempts and no errors as she breaks the previous match record set by Debbie Varney who tallied a .769 percentage (10-0-13).

 

                Heather MacArthur was nearly as perfect as she accounted for an .833 percentage with her 10 kills on 12 attacks (no errors).

 

                Stacey Ray dished out 43 assists, while Alexis Rowles recorded 24 digs in the victory.  Tusculum posted 10 service aces on the evening, including five by Vanessa Fortes.  Fortes also led the team with four blocks.

 

                Tusculum will look to extend its four-match winning streak on Friday when it hosts South Atlantic Conference foe Catawba College for a 7 p.m. match at Pioneer Arena.  Friday's match as been designated as "Dig For the Cure" Night as both teams will be raising funds for breast cancer research.
