LACY, ROWLES NAMED TO ALL-SAC VOLLEYBALL TEAM

 

                WINGATE, N.C. --- Tusculum College’s Vivian Lacy and Alexis Rowles have been named to the 2006 All-South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Teams announced league officials.  The announcement came on Friday at the Food Lion SAC Volleyball Tournament, held this weekend in Wingate, N.C.  Lacy was named to the All-SAC First Team, while Rowles garnered Second Team honors.

 

                Lacey, a junior outside hitter from Lacey, Wash., led the Pioneers in kills and hitting percentage in her inaugural Tusculum campaign.  Lacey averaged 5.07 kills per game, while posting a .307 hitting percentage.  She also averaged 3.31 digs and 0.46 blocks per game.

 

                Rowles, a junior from Simpsonville, S.C., was the Second Team libero.  Rowles led Tusculum this season on defense, averaging 4.68 digs per game.

 

                Tusculum ended its season Friday morning with a 3-1 loss to Carson-Newman in a quarterfinal match of the Food Lion SAC Tournament.  The Pioneers posted a 14-win improvement from last year.  Tusculum finished the season with a 23-10 record and finished fourth in the South Atlantic Conference.  TC’s nine SAC victories were the most by the Pioneers since joining the league in 1998.
