CARSON-NEWMAN
DEFEATS
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- Kelsey Fleck notched 16 kills as
seventh-seeded Carson-Newman upset No. 2 Tusculum, 3-0 in the quarterfinal
round of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The Eagles won by scores of 30-24, 30-28,
30-27.
Carson-Newman (22-10)
advances to Saturday's semifinal against No. 3 seed Catawba.
Kelli Sorensen added six kills while Allyson Corhn and Stephanie Cutter provided 22 and 14 assists,
respectively. Salem Stepp led C-N with 14 digs while
Sorensen contributed 12 for the Lady Eagle defense. Cutter had three service
aces while Nikki James led C-N with three blocks.
For the Pioneers
(25-10), SAC Player of the Year Vivian Lacy led all players with 17 kills while
Gina Coffaro and Kelsey Hayden had eight kills each.
Mariana Rezende's 37 assists
led TC while Lacy led the Pioneers with 10 digs on the night.
