TUSCULUM VOLLEYBALL INKS AMANDA CAGLE

 

                GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Amanda Cagle has signed a national letter of intent to attend Tusculum College and play volleyball for the Pioneers announced TC head coach Nathan Baker.

 

                Cagle, a 6-2 middle hitter/right-side hitter from Cherokee, N.C., earned All-Conference honors three times at Cherokee High School where she was coached by Kim Arkansas.  Cagle was named Best Blocker and Best Hitter twice and was tabbed to the Red-Blue Senior All-Star Game.

 

                "Amanda has a huge upside to her," said Baker.  "She has the size and ability to become a great player here at Tusculum.  She works extremely hard at any task in front of her, and because of her drive to be better, she will be successful."

 

                Cagle also lettered on the Cherokee basketball team where she earned All-Conference recognition and was named her team's most valuable player.

 

                Tusculum posted a 25-10 record in 2007, including 11-3 in South Atlantic Conference play, finishing second in the league.

 

                Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
