Civic Engagement
- American
Democracy Project
The American Democracy Project is a multi-campus initiative that seeks
to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic
engagement for undergraduates. Encourages
political engagement.
- Center for Information and
Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE)
Based in the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, CIRCLE
conducts, collects, and funds research on the civic and political
participation of young Americans. Includes Primary
info collected on Election 2008.

Independent Colleges Projects
The Engaging
Communities and Campuses program helps independent colleges and
universities establish partnerships that can enhance experiential
learning activities while addressing community needs.
- Project
on Civic Reflection - New!
Civic Reflection is the practice of reading and discussing short pieces
of literature as a means of reflecting on the central questions of
civic life. This simple practice can help citizens talk more
comfortably about values, think more deeply about choices, and respond
more imaginatively to the needs of their communities. Civic reflection
is now being used by AmeriCorps programs, Rotary clubs, foundations,
social service agencies, schools and other civic organizations. Online tools
available for printing.
