Dr. James Reid, professor of political science, also serves as co-director of the Hobbie Center for theCivic Arts. He has been an active proponent of Civic Arts activities since he joined the Tusculum faculty in 1997.

The Hobbie Center sponsors annual symposiums about various topics related to the Civic Arts and also host a variety of activities to engage faculty members in scholarly study of the Civic Arts. As part of his duties, he also serves as advisor to Alpha Chi and Omicron-Psi Honor Societies.

Dr. Reid earned his doctorate in political science from the University of Missouri, a master's degree in the discipline from St. John's University, and his undergraduate degree from Iona College.

At Tusculum, he teaches such courses as American Government, World Politics, American Foreign Policy, and Origins of the Civic Republican Tradition in political science. He also teaches history and Commons courses.
