Michelle S. Freeman, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, began her professional career as a certified public accountant with Burkhart and Company in Knoxville. She then returned to the classroom as an instructor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Prior to coming to Tusculum, she served as head of the Department of Office Administration at Walters State Community College in addition to her teaching responsibilities there.

Dr. Freeman earned her doctorate in educational administration and policy studies at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and received a Master of Accountancy from UT. At Tusculum, she teaches Accounting Principles I & II, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Cost Accounting, Income Tax I & II, and Auditing.

She has served as Chair of the Admissions and Standards Committee for the 2004-2005 and the 2005-2006 academic years. She serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Niswonger Performing Arts Center (NPAC), and she also serves on the advisory board for Keep Greene Beautiful.

Freeman and her husband, Rodney, have three children - 5-year-old girl named Ainsley, a 4-year-old boy named Colby, and an baby girl named McKinley. The family also shares its home with two Labrador retrievers, Magnum and Madison. The Freemans teach a Sunday school class for young married couples at First Baptist Church in Greeneville. The family enjoys being outdoors, attending and occasionally acting in plays, and spending time together.
