Richard J. Ross, professor of management, brings to Tusculum both instructional, public service, and military professional experiences to the classroom. Ross has served as chief of the Office of Organized Crime and Labor Management Racketeering for the U.S. Department of Labor, and is a retired U.S. Army officer in military intelligence. Prior to coming to Tusculum, he taught at the University of Maryland, European Division, and at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Ross earned his doctorate in public administration at the University of Southern California, where he also earned a Master of Arts degree in public administration. At Tusculum, Dr. Ross teaches Organizational Behavior/Theory, Leadership, Human Resource Management, and Current Topics in Management at the graduate and undergraduate level.
He is the current President-Elect of Tennessee Employment Relations Research Association (TERRA); affiliated with the National Industrial Relations Research Association, (IRRA); a member of the Board of Directors, East Tennessee Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA); certified as a Senior Professional in Human Relations (SPHR); member of the National Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the local chapter - East Tennessee SHRM; and reviewer for Criminal Justice Review. He is also a member of the American Management Association (AMA), American Society of Training and Development (ASTD), and the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR).
He has served as a volunteer at the Tennessee Labor Management Conference, was accepted to the Arbitrator's Basic Training Program, sponsored by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in November 2004.
