Ron McCallister was born in Anchorage Alaska and moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of five.
He attended Middle Tennessee State University and received a BA in History. He then attended East Tennessee State University and earned a Masters of Arts degree in History. He joined Tusculum College as a faculty member in the History department in 1994-95 academic years.
Serving for two years as a faculty member in History, he then moved to the administrative side of the college, serving as the Director of Institutional Research, the Director of Advising, the Director of Registration, and the Coordinator for the Society of Cicero.
After two years as an administrator, he returned to East Tennessee State University and earned a second Masters degree, this one in Computer Science. He rejoined the faculty in the Computer Science department and has served as program chair for the past 3 ½ years.
His interests outside of his college responsibilities include flying (he earned his Private Pilot certificate in 2003), motorcycle riding, and spending time with his young daughter.
