PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Current Position : Assistant Professor of Management , Tusculum College , Greenville , Tennessee. This is a fulltime position in the Professional Studies program of the Coll ege. Responsibilities include teaching courses in Economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at various sites in Northeast Tennessee. Other responsibilities include advising students in the Professional Studies program , participating in faculty meetings and serving on committees as requested.

Other Teaching Experience : During 1997-2001 , held Adjunct Faculty positions with Tusculum College Professional Studies and the Adult Studies programs at Averett college ( Danv ille , Virginia ) and Virginia Intermont College ( Bristol , Virginia ) ;was member of the Adjunct Faculty at Mountain Empire Community College ( Big Stone Gap , Virginia ), 2 001 academic year. Courses were taught in a number of disciplines : Economics ( at all the institutions ) , Finance ( Virginia Intermont College ) , Statistics and Operations Research ( Averett College ).

GOVERNMENT AND INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

1975 - 1996 : Economist at the Economic Research Service in the United States Department of Agriculture , Washington , D.C. At time of retirement in 1996, was Branch Chief , Comm odity Economics . This position involved supervision of a staff of 45 professional and clerical personnel . The Branch conducted a program of policy analysis and forecasting fo r major agricultural commodities .

1973 - 1975 : Economist at the Litton Industry shipyard in Pascagoula , Mississippi. Responsibilities included forecasting shipbuilding costs ; monitoring domestic and internati onal economic events ; conducting a study of labor turnover costs ; developing a cost -of- living adjustment formula for wage employees.

1968 - 1973 : Statistician at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant , Hercules , Inc. , Radford , Virginia. This position involved work in quality control , hazards analysis and the design of experiments . Was responsible for economic studies , such as the estimation of learning curves used in cost-plus contract negotiations with the Department of Defense.
