BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Stella Schramm has served as an Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance for the Department of Organizational Management in the School of Business since January 2001. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Tennessee, with fields in economic development and urban/regional economics. She also holds an MBA from the University of New Orleans.

A native of New Orleans, Dr. Schramm has worked as an economic development executive in the New Orleans and East Tennessee regions. She has served as consultant to numerous nonprofit organizations in formulating economic development strategy, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory in East Tennessee and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna. Both as an economic development professional and as a consultant, she has worked with many corporations and small businesses in formulating business strategies.

She has publications in the areas of technology development, economic development policy, corporate investment, and adoption of environmental technologies. She has served as Research Professor for CIDE in Mexico City and completed a postdoctorate with the Institute of New Technologies of the United Nations University in the Netherlands.
