Dr. Olsen received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in American and Twentieth-Century Literature in 1997.

Dr. Olsen published her dissertation, Transcending Space: Architectural Place in Henry David Thoreau, E.E. Cummings, and John Barth, in 2000 through Bucknell University Press. She continues to publish on E.E. Cummings, primarily through Spring: a Journal of the E. E. Cummings Society (of which she is a member), and she enjoys teaching American and African American Literature and other classes. Her other projects include participation in “Crossroads,” a teaching and technology online seminar sponsored by Georgetown University and presentations for the ACA (Appalachian College Association) conference, for which she serves on the steering committee. She has served as English Department Chair and Director of the School of Arts and Sciences.
