Troy Goodale is an Oklahoma native who was raised in the Washington DC metropolitan area, before moving to East Tennessee during his 8th grade school year. Living in the Nation's Capitol began his interest in politics and government.
Troy received his BA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in Political Science, with a minor in Cultural Studies that focused on Asian Culture.
Troy received his MA and PhD from UTK in Political Science. His concentration in the Master's program was 'Political Theory'. In the PhD program, Troy concentrated and passed the Comprehensive Exams in 'Comparative Politics' and 'International Relations'. His Doctoral Dissertation is in the 'American Politics' sub-field, examining Legislative Term Limits in State Governments.
The end result is that Troy is an academic Generalist in a field that is growing ever increasingly Specialized.
Troy taught at UTK for 4 1/2 years and at Tusculum part-time during the
2006-2007 school year. He is currently serving as the Department Chair of Political Science here at Tusculum during Jim Reid's absence from campus, and is also the Pre-Law Advisor.
He has also run for public office on two occasions, and has worked in various political organizations and campaigns.
