ATHLETIC TRAINING AND SPORTS MEDICINE
A Guide to Information Resources
TC Library has several recently published books related to athletic training and allied health housed at the Greeneville campus library. Use the online catalog to search by author, title, or subject. Two databases of electronic books , EBSCO EBOOKS and ebrary ebooks are also good resources for current publications in athletic training and allied health fields.

Other Resources for Journal Articles
Infotrieve Article Finder is a search engine that allows users to search a bibliographic database of over 30 million citations and 20 million abstracts. The Table of Contents of 150,000 journal titles is available for viewing and articles may be purchased using the Docsource feature. Many of the articles may be requested through Interlibrary Loan and delivered via Ariel (an Infotrieve document delivery system) Contact the TC Library for more information on using this service.
Ingenta is a comprehensive bibliographic index to a wide range of periodical articles. This service requires purchase to obtain the full text of articles but is a valuable resource if looking for additional resources. Many of the journal articles may be requested through Interlibrary Loan and most may be delivered within72 hours. For more information on using this resource contact the TC Library.

Amateur Athletic
Foundation Sports Library The AAF has provides a list of sports
research and information sites. Though not comprehensive, the
sites listed have been helpful in answering reference questions.
Institute for Preventative Sports
Medicine dedicated to the research and prevention of sports related
injury and health care cost containment. Research publications,
links to websites and information on current projects in sport injury are
included.
Journal of Athletic
Training a direct link to the table of contents from the journal
maintained by NATA. NOT full text. Access to full text of this

National Athletic Trainers Association the
official site for the association responsible for certification of athletic
trainers, accreditation of athletic training programs and dissemination of
information related to the profession.
NATA Helpful Links A
listing of associations, organizations, coalitions and societies that are
related to or work directly with Athletic Trainers.
National Sports
Information Centre Based in Australia, the NSIC is a library
supporting the Australian Sports Commission objectives by providing access
to sports and related information services.
Sports Physical Therapy Section of the American
Physical Therapy Association Links to research, news and websites related to
sports PT.
SportsLink Athletic Resource is
a comprehensive not for profit website that provides resources to competitors,
athletes, coaches, trainers, researchers, and the sports medicine community.
All the resources are free to the public. They have
also compiled an extensive sports performance bibliography. As stated on their
organization's about page, the websites that are listed are what they consider
to be the "top 500 non-commercial links for sports and athletic performance on
the Internet."
Athletic
Training Research Guide provided by James Madison University has some good
sports reference websites listed.
Sports
Medicine & Athletic Training Pathfinder SMSU Libraries a helpful
library research guide for athletic training from the librarians at
Southwestern Missouri State University. Check the Tusculum College Library
online catalog for similar materials in our collection.
United States Sports
Academy Library - Electronic Reference maintained and updated on a
regular basis a good comprehensive resource for students in allied health and
all aspects of sports management.
Commercial Sites
Gatorade Sports Science Institute
established in 1988 ,GSSI, is a research and educational facility
providing
access to current information on sports nutrition and exercise science to
enhance the performance and well-being of athletes. The site was developed with
the sports health professional in mind.
A great commercial database with information on new
products and trends in the area of human kinetics, physical education, coaching
and athletic performance. A caution:

SIRC SPORTQuest Sport Search Engine
and Directory Official search engine for SportDiscus Homepage with links to
