Access to approximately 300,000 visual images in digital format and the
corresponding data. ARTstor documents artistic and historical traditions
across many time periods and cultures and is focused primarily on the arts.
ARTstor is also a great resource for students, faculty and researchers in other
fields. Most of the collection has been derived through collaborations
with libraries, museums, photographic archives, publishers, slide libraries and
individual scholars. Sources include: The Image Gallery, The
Carnegie Arts of the United States, The Huntington Archive of Asian Art, The
Illustrated Bartsch, The Mellon International Dunhuang Archive, and The Museum

each journal has a "rolling-wall" of currency, so be sure to check the

full-text & full image information from thousands of periodicals and
other sources. The noted Hoover's Company Records are accessed via this
database through a system known as "IntelliDocs." What that simply means
is that once you have retrieved a full-text article, it will identify and
hyperlink all mentioned company names; then, when you click on a company
link, the Hoover's entry for that company is opened in a new window. You
also may search Hoover's independently.
Proquest Education Journals offers complete information on hundreds
of educational topics, drawing full-text articles from over700 leading
journals for the period since 1988.

in the Tate Library Reference Section.

Interscience E-books(On campus access only) current
electronic books of interest to students and faculty in psychology, biological,
environmental, and physical sciences and mathematics.
Another
valuable source isIngentaSelect,
a bibliographic and database service (formerly known as Carl Uncover)
which allows users to review its database of 5 million plus periodical
articles. Users may purchase articles from Ingenta or obtain them via traditional
on site or interlibrary loan requests. To employ, once you have your choice
of connection, click on down through the various ordering, etc. questions
until you come to a list which offers you access by word, title, etc. Employ
word as a subject index. This is really a very good source to learn about
the existence of articles, ala a "Reader's Guide," which can then be obtained
from Tate Library or via ILL.
DISSERTATIONS/MASTERS PAPERS

The dissertation source
UMI/Proquest Digital Dissertations,is an excellent source to review the first 24 pages of UMI dissertations published
after 1996. You have the option of purchasing the entire
dissertation in paper or digital form. Also, the University of Virginia
has a directory and short abstracts of
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
(ETDs) in the Humanitiesthat are currently in progress or have been
recently completed.
The Networked
Digital Library of Theses and Dissertationsis another source that has
digital theses and dissertations available for purchase. All are excellent substitutes for Dissertation Abstracts which is
available at larger universities such as ETSU or UT.

overlooked on the links pages of most libraries . Not to be taken lightly, it
is recommended.
Google Scholar The
popular search engine's new progeny provides a simple way to broadly search for
scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and
sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from
academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities
and other scholarly organizations. Take heed that much may not be
available for free in full text.

WGBH for individual and classroom learning. The ever-expanding site contains

(formerly known as FirstGov) is described on its website as: "... the official U.S.
gateway to all government information, ... the catalyst for a growing electronicgovernment." All government departments, branches and agencies that
have a web presence are accessible through this website.
NLM
Gateway provided by
the National Library of Medicine allows searching of MEDLINE,
PubMedand other health databases seamlessly. Catalog information for books, serial titles, and audiovisuals,
consumer health information, directory of health organizations, and various
meeting abstracts are examples of what is available through this point of
access.
AGRICOLA AGRICultural
OnLine Access) created by the National Agriculture Library and its cooperators
maintains a database of citations in agricultural literature from 1970 to the
present. Topics covered in its indexes include "animal and veterinary
sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries,
farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education,
food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences."
