Karen Hartman, Upward Bound Assistant Director
I joined the Upward Bound program in 1999, first as a counseling specialist and currently as the Assistant Director. Here at Tusculum, I also serve as an academic advisor and an adjunct instructor in speech. The most wonderful aspect of my job is that I get to be a part of encouraging students to realize their potential, and often I am fortunate enough to see the results of their work when the students come back to visit after their college graduation! On a more personal note, I am a native of Greene County, and I attended Carson-Newman College where I received a bachelor's degree in psychology. I also attended the University of Tennessee and received a master's degree in clinical social work. I live in Greeneville with my husband and my beautiful baby boy, and I enjoy reading, movies and scrapbooking!! I currently serve students at South Greene, Morristown East and Morristown West High Schools. If you have questions or would like further information about the program, please contact me at khartman@tusculum.edu.

Tonya Ridley - Counselor

I am the Upward Bound counselor for Cocke County and Cosby High Schools. I received my Bachelor of Arts in psychology and criminal justice fron East Tennessee State University in a year that should only be disclosed under torture. I also obtained my Masters of Arts in counseling from there. For the last seven years I have worked as a child therapists and a school counselor and now look forward to being a part of the TRIO program. In my not so spare time, I'm obsessed with reading, torture myself by writing works of fiction and scripts no one has yet to realize the genius of, and do a fairly decent impersonation of a mom and wife. I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with students from beautiful East Tennessee and feel honored to be a member of the Tusculum College family. If you would like to know more about the TRIO program you can reach me at tridley@tusculum.edu. I will be looking forward to hearing from you!
