Parent Council and Parent Association
The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is excited to announce the formation of a Tusculum College Parent Council and Parent Association. We understand that, as parents, you are interested in the lives of your children throughout their educational experiences, and that your interest in their success and happiness does not end when your child goes off to college.
It is because of this vested interest in your child that we seek to form a Parent Council and Parent Association to keep you informed, involved, and connected with Tusculum College throughout your student's time here.
If you would be interested in serving as a charter member of the Tusculum College Parent Council, please contact rmuncy@tusculum.edu.
Parent Council
The Parent Council is the executive committee of the Parent Association. The full meeting of the Parent Associate will be held during the move-in week in the Fall. Parent Council members will present an annual report to the Association updating parents about the work of the Council and plans for the Association during the upcoming year.
Parent Council members will meet three times per year, including the full meeting of the Association. The council members will act as a sounding board for parents' opinions and represent parents with sons and daughters in all class years. Parents Council members will be expected to attend Parent Council meetings and to serve in leadership capacities for the Areas of Focus:
- Office of Admission Ambassador - Parents can assist the Admission staff by sharing their Tusculum experience with students and parents in their communities
- Career Development - Parents can help develop a relationship between their organization and the Office of Career Development to work with Tusculum College students as they look for summer employment or their first career opportunity after graduation
- Parent e-Newsletter - Parents can assist in contributing ideas for the Tusculum College Parent e-Newsletter, which will be sent out via emai monthly with updates on the College and important information for parents.
- Tusculum College Fund - The Tusculum College Fund provides a stable source of revenue to Tusculum College and is especially critical to the College as it helps us meet immediate needs in many areas such as academic programs and campus repairs, renovations and improvements, among others.
Parent Association
The Parent Association represents all Tusculum College parents, promoting their active involvement in the College. The Parent Association will have one meeting a year, which will take place during move-in week in the Fall.
Parents become members of the Association upon the enrollment of their son or daughter; no application is required.
The Association promotes active involvement by all Tusculum College parents throughout their student's years at Tusculum College. A Parent Council, representing parents from each class year of students, leads the Association.
Parents can contribute their time expertise, and support to place Parent Association programs, such as Office of Admission Ambassadors, Career Development, Parent e-Newsletter, and the Tusculum College Fund. These are the areas of focus outlined above.
