College confers degrees on 397 graduates
GREENEVILLE Beautiful weather and a graduating class
of nearly 400 brought a large crowd to Alpine Arena at Tusculum
College on Saturday morning, Dec. 15. for commencement ceremonies.
Three-hundred ninety-seven degrees were awarded before an audience
that filled the arena and even spilled out in the large foyer area

'Lessons and Carols' presented by TC Choir, Religion Department GREENEVILLE The sounds of Christmas could be heard on the Tusculum campus on Dec. 9th and 10th when the College Choir and Department of Religion presented "Lessons and Carols." [12/11/01]

afternoon, Dec. 8, during a Christmas party hosted by the college

addresses use of Indian names for mascots
GREENEVILLE Raising awareness of why many Native Americans
object to the use of Indian names for athletic teams and team mascots
is a first step toward having those names changed, a crowd gathered
at Tusculum College was told Tuesday night (Nov. 6). [11/07/01]

campus mourns loss of senior Jill Lucas
GREENEVILLE On the evening of Oct. 24, scores of
Tusculum College students conducted an impromptu candlelight vigil
on the campus, honoring the memory of one of their own who had died
that evening in the Johnson City Medical Center. Jill Lucas, a senior
business management major and member of the women's volleyball team
at Tusculum, died of injuries suffered in a 3 p.m. traffic accident
that same day on U.S. Highway 11E in Washington County. She was
returning to the Greeneville campus from an internship with the
United Way of Johnson City-Washington County when the accident occurred.

KNOXVILLE Ground was broken on Tuesday,
Oct. 9, for a new Knoxville center for Tusculum College's Professional
Studies division, which provides higher education opportunities

GREENEVILLE The acclaimed railroad photography
of O. Winston Link is the exhibition in the Allison Gallery at the
Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts through Dec. 15. This exhibition is one
of the last personally approved Link before his sudden death in

Kudlow shares opinions about the economy and government with Tusculum
students
GREENEVILLE Nationally known economist Lawrence Kudlow, fresh
from a Sept. 26 visit with Vice President Dick Cheney, came to Tusculum
College that same afternoon and presented his views about the financial
condition of the country since recent terrorist attacks and how

The roots of anti-American sentiment of certain groups in the Middle
East and how terrorism can be combated were among the topics discussed
the evening of Sept. 25 at Tusculum College in a panel discussion

College reacts, responds to national tragedies
GREENEVILLE Tragic
national events on Sept. 11 have prompted a variety of responses
at Tusculum College. On the night of the coordinated terrorists
attacks that brought down buildings in the World Trade Center complex
in New York City and destroyed a portion of the Pentagon, several
students gathered at 11 o'clock in the evening outside the Niswonger
Commons building for a time of reflection, discussion, and prayer.

recognizes long-term employees at Convocation

Charles H. Tunstall and R. Stephen Weisz were recognized Aug. 22
for their 20 years of service at Tusculum College. Faculty and staff
with 20, 15, and 10 years of service were honored during the Opening

GREENEVILLE Tusculum College has become
the first "College of Promise" in Greeneville and Greene County.
The college is the first locally to commit to the "Community of
Promise" program, which focuses on building the character and competence
