John A. Lamb Joins Tusculum As Director of Information Systems

John A. Lamb, Director of Information Systems

GREENEVILLE, TN -- Mark Stokes, vice president for administration and college relations at Tusculum College, has announced that John A. Lamb Jr. has joined the college as director of information systems.

Lamb, formerly of Loveland, Co., began his new job at the beginning of the year. His work involves overseeing the college's computer network, telephone system, and other internal technological systems such as copiers, fax machines, and so on.

Stokes said, "We are delighted to have someone of John's technical expertise and leadership experience join the Tusculum College staff. He brings years of direct hands-on work to our information technology department. John and his wife, Sue, are welcomed additions to the Tusculum family."

Lamb himself sees his new position as a homecoming. "Sue and I are excited to be back in Tennessee and look forward to getting to know everyone at Tusculum. "Ê Lamb, who was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tenn., came to Tusculum from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where he was technology coordinator. His other prior professional experience includes working as a computer hardware and software instructor at the Resource Training Institute in Fort Collins, Co., and store manager of T.H. Electronics, also in Fort Collins. He has also worked as a consultant.

A veteran, Lamb served in the Army 20 years before retiring in 1992 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military service included participation in Operation Desert Storm. In both his military and civilian careers, Lamb has gathered more than two decades of supervisory and administrative experience, as well as communications skills. Active in community life, he has worked with the Special Olympics program, as a member of citizen committees for local governments, and as a volunteer for the Poudre Wilderness Rangers in conjunction with the National Park Service. He has also been an adult leader with Boy Scouts of America, his posts with that organization including assistant district commissioner, cubmaster, and scoutmaster. Lamb has also been a commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars post, and an active churchman. His hobbies include backpacking and hiking.

In 1972, Lamb earned a bachelor's degree in engineering science at Tennessee Technogical University in Cookeville, where he was a member of several honor societies. He earned a master's degrees in logistics management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is also a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. His other is military education includes numerous courses of training at the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School, the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, and the U.S. Army Logistics Management Center. His wife, Susan, was born in Appalachicola, Fla. She and Lamb met while both were students at Tennessee Tech, where Susan earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
