Donation given to President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library

GREENEVILLE -- The President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library at Tusculum College has received a $1,000 donation to be applied toward undertaking an inventory of the President Andrew Johnson Collection.
Lillian Taylor, president, announced the donation from the Andrew Johnson Memorial Association at the organization’s membership meeting at the Museum and Library on the college campus on March 5.
“We are very pleased to be able to support this important work, which will enable the staff of the museum to more completely use the collection for exhibition purposes and in answering research questions,” said Mrs. Taylor.
George Collins, director of Museum Program and Studies, said, “We deeply appreciate the support of the community through the Andrew Johnson Memorial Association in this effort. Inventorying this important collection will better enable the museum to serve students, teachers, researchers and the general public.”
The Association was founded in 1982 for the purpose of recognizing contributions of President Andrew Johnson and his family to Greene County and the nation, to assist in the development and preservation of the President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library, and to assist in the development of the museum studies program at Tusculum.
The museum is open to the public during weekdays.
