Dr. David Hendricksen to present lecture on music and technology

GREENEVILLE -- Dr. David Hendricksen will present a lecture called Sound and Silence at 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 25, in Room 46 of the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Center on the campus of Tusculum College.
This presentation will examine the changing ways in which music has been a part of society before and after the development of music reproduction technology.
"At one time, the only way to hear music was to be present in the company of live musicians who were making music. Now, it is possible to hear virtually any kind of music anytime, anywhere," Dr. Hendrickson said in announcing the event. "This has changed the relationship of human society to the musical art, affecting both the art itself, and our culture. These changes present us with new challenges and opportunities which will be explored in the presentation."
Dr. Hendricksen ís lecture is part of Acts, Arts, Academia and all that stuff. . . !, a performance and lecture series at Tusculum College. Admission is free to Tusculum College students and staff. There is a $5 admission charge for the general public.
Please contact the Arts Outreach office at 423-798-1620 for further information, or email mdubrisk@tusculum.edu.
