Earth Day Celebration to be April 22

Take a heaping helping of education and mix in a smidgen of fun and you have the ingredients for the third annual Earth Day Celebration at Tusculum College on Monday, April 22.

The public is invited to the celebration, which will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. on the lawn in front of McCormick Hall.

There will be more than 30 exhibits and activities to visit, including a few special furry participants from the Knoxville Zoo.

Some of the local organizations who will be participating in the Earth Day Celebration include Cedar Creek Learning Center, Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society, Keep Greene Beautiful, Rural Resources, and the Tennessee Ornithological Society-Greeneville Chapter as well as Tusculum College departments and Service Leader Scholars.

Other groups participating include the American National Parks, the Appalachian Resources Conservation & Development Council, the Boy Scouts of America, Cumberland Trail Conference, East Tennessee Indian League, Friends of a Feather, Jonesborough Recycling, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, and Tiger Haven.

Several prizes, including gift certificates, will be given away as part of a trivia game during the Earth Day Celebration. Answers to the trivia game will be found in the exhibits, and those who get all the answers correct will be entered in the drawing for the prizes. A general door prize will also be given away.

Students from Chuckey and Doak elementary schools are scheduled to visit the Earth Day Celebration.

Lunch will be served at the event, and will be $4.75 per person.

The Earth Day Celebration is being sponsored by Tusculum's Service-Learning Center, the Service Leader Scholars, Campus Life, and the Earth Club.
