
Williams receives 2002 Tusculum College Sports Benefactor Award
Mark Williams, of Greeneville, was presented the Tusculum College Sports Benefactor Award for 2002 at the college's Sports Hall of Fame Breakfast held Saturday morning during Homecoming 2002.
Williams, a well-known Greeneville real estate agent who is active in civic, church and education activities, was presented the award by Tusculum College President Dr. Dolphus Henry. Dr. Henry cited Williams' lengthy and wide-ranging support of Tusculum College athletics, including his work as a team member and leader in the annual Pioneer Club effort, which raises funds to support athletic scholarships and Pioneer athletics in general. Williams is also a member of the college's Board of Trustees.
Williams expressed his appreciation for Tusculum College and Pioneer athletics in accepting the award. A Greeneville resident for most of his life, Williams is a sales agent with Century 21, Pro Service Realtors and is a Tennessee certified real estate appraiser.
He has been involved in fund-raising for the college for the past 20 years in major campaigns at Tusculum College. Williams was also instrumental in bringing the South Atlantic Conference Fall Sports Festival to Greene County and Tusculum College.
His resume of community service includes membership in the Greene County Partnership Board of Directors, chairmanship of its Sports Council, graduation from the Partnership's 1997 Leadership Class, volunteer work with the United Way, and service on the board of directors of the YMCA of Greene County and Comcare-Partners in Care. He is a member of the Northeast Tennessee Association of Realtors, the Tennessee Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors.
He is a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Greeneville and is active in church leadership roles. A talented vocalist, he frequently sings with vocal ensembles at the church. Williams holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee. He and his wife, Ann, reside in Greeneville and have three children Chase, Erin, and Rebecca.
