Stenciling'

The
Doak House Museum hosted "Stories-Plants Stenciling, " an enrichment
day camp for home-schooled students April 1-4. The camp provided
the students, ages 6-12, an opportunity to learn what the spring
season was like for those living in the 1800s through a variety
of challenging hands-on projects. These included making puppets
using spools, beads, and thread; creating paper cats; and using
stencils to decorate wood. The Doak House Museum, which was the
home of the Rev. Samuel Witherspoon Doak, co-founder of Tusculum
College, hosted more than 7,000 school children from Northeast Tennessee
last year for a variety of educational programs related to the early
19th century. For more information about the Doak House Museum's
educational programs, call 636-8554 or 1-800-729-0256 ext. 5251.
