Service-Leader Scholars help teach elementary school students about Earth Day

B.J. Roberts, Noah Grunzweig, and Jessica Wilde, at left, read Dr. Suess' "The Lorax" to students in Mary Ann Connell's kindergarten class at Doak Elementary School. Roberts, Grunzweig, and Wilde were among the Tusculum College Service Leader Scholars who traveled to local elementary schools Tuesday (April 22) to help teach students about Earth Day. In Connell's class, at right, the children learned about the importance of taking care of the environment and also what valuable things can be found in earth from an edible mixture of mud, rocks, and worms (chocolate pudding, crushed cookies, and Gummy Worms). The Tusculum students worked with classes ranging from the eighth grade to kindergarten at Doak, Mosheim, and Tusculum View elementary schools. (Tusculum College photos)
