Student art from Tusculum College now on display in Allison Gallery

The 36th Annual Tusculum College Student Art Exhibition is under way through May 9 at the college's Allison Gallery in the Annie Hogan Byrd Fine Arts Building. The gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and by appointment on weekends. It will be open as well on the day of Tusculum College graduation ceremonies: Saturday, May 3. Above, Lewis Smith, a senior graphic arts major from Miami, Fla., poses with one of several of his works featured in the exhibit. The graphite drawing, which features subtle shading that creates a perception of image depth, is an imaginative work that came about when Smith was encouraged to let his creativity progress as he developed an image that began as a fairly literal rendering of a swimming shark. Smith is only one of many students whose works are on display. He was photographed during a reception for the student artists held on April 24 at the gallery. (Tusculum College photo)
