At the Feb. 8 meeting of the Andrew Johnson Memorial Association at the President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library, Mrs. Brenda Knott and Mr. Alvin Gerhardt, Museum Director, announced the acquisition of several gifts to the Museum's collections.

Among the gifts are a Judith Plucker painting of the Andrew Johnson Homestead, donated by Scott Niswonger; a Woodward portrait of Andrew Johnson and six papers with his signature, donated by the late Ralph Phinney; and a cobbler's sign, dough bowl and Victorian washstand, donated by Betsy Carrier.

Carrier is associated with the Johnson family through the Bachman line. Ms. Carrier last summer donated to the museum a Bible originally owned by Johnson's son.

"I am very pleased these things are here in Greeneville where they belong," she said.
