Applegate Family Gives $250,000 to Tusculum College

Scott and Toni Applegate and their two young sons, Jake and Grant, have a made a commitment of $250,000 to the Tusculum College 2000 Campaign. The announcement was made by Tusculum President Robert E. Knott.

"We are indebted to Scott and Toni and the boys for their leadership-level commitment in support of the people and programs of Tusculum College. As a new trustee family, their commitment is particularly meaningful to the College. During their brief time in Greeneville, they have demonstrated their commitment to improving the quality of life in the region and we appreciate their partnership with us," said Knott.

"We are pleased to be able to assist Tusculum College in this way through their capital campaign. We are impressed with the service that Tusculum is providing to students from the region and endorse Tusculum College's commitment to the virtues of citizenship, Christian character and service to society. We feel we have made a good investment," said Scott Applegate.

Scott W. Applegate is President and CEO of Tennessee Aluminum Casting. Applegate came to Greeneville in July 1998, when he bought the former Dohler-Jarvis plant. Renamed Tennessee Aluminum Casting, the manufacturing facility provides parts for the automobile industry.

Prior to purchasing Tennessee Aluminum Casting, Mr. Applegate was President and Chief Executive Officer of CapitalPlus Financial Group, an equipment leasing and merger acquisition firm in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Applegate also owns and operates several other ventures including: Pinnacle Printing, a Greeneville commercial printing operation, CapitalPlus Equity, an equipment leasing company located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Harrison Holdings, a real estate holding company also located in Greeneville.

Active in civic affairs, Mr. Applegate has been associated with the Make A Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and most recently the Little Theater of Greeneville. The Applegates are members of the Meadowcreek Presbyterian Church.

With the announcement of this gift, commitments to the $20 million Tusculum College 2000 Campaign have reached $22 million.
