It's not the Niswonger Commons, but this new building on campus has an exciting future in store for it as well. When complete it will serve as a blacksmith's shop and will be used for educational programs at the Doak House Museum, where children and other visitors will be able to participate in the smithing process. The shop's collection of authentic 19th century smithing tools, which were originally used at shop in Cosby, Tennessee, have returned to their home state after being donated to the Doak House by a museum patron in Virginia. The building, shown above being contrstructed by contract workers Mr. Ottinger and Mr. Campbell (l-r), should be completed by October 1, just in time for the shop's dedication at Homecoming '99.
