Two hundred and four new students joined around 250 returning students as classes started at Tusculum College's residential campus Monday. Residential College enrollment stands at 450, a five-year high. With over two hundred freshman and transfer students, the College boasts its highest enrollment of new students in 21 years.

The Professional Studies program for working adults saw enrollment figures reach approximately 988. Annual enrollment figures in that program are reported in October, and the total is expected to increase significantly to well over 1,000 students.

"We are all delighted and excited with the record enrollment of new students in this fall class," said Tusculum College President Dr. Robert E. Knott. "The improvements to our curriculum made by our faculty and to the campus made by our physical plant staff have brought a new enthusiasm to the campus this fall," he said.

"We're seeing more students because it's an exciting time to be at Tusculum," said Amy Yeazel, vice president of enrollment management. "It's also due to a lot of hard work, commitment to students, and teamwork on the part of the admissions, financial aid and athletic staffs," she said.
