Grace
Odyssey Held at Tusculum College
Over 150 Presbyterians gathered at Tusculum College on Saturday, August 15th, for the annual Grace Odyssey, a Christian Education conference. Visiting speakers presented workshops on a variety of topics from singing ethnic hymns, to a proposed new catechism for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to volunteering in Appalachia. Tusculum College Trustee Angus Shaw was one of the featured presenters.
The event was also the collection point for the "shoebox ministry," an annual drive to collect medical and personal supplies for people in need. Presbyterians in Holston Presbytery collected over 500 shoeboxes with medicines and bandages, soap, water purification tablets, and other items. At right, Reverend Trevor Downie of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church in Bristol packages one of the boxes. The supplies will go to Kenya this year.
