Pictured, the group visits Rocky Mount Living History Farm and Museum, in Piney Flats, Tenn., site of the first territorial capital in the United States and home of the William Cobb family in the 1790's. At right, "Mrs. Cobb" displays a brick of tea.
"Tabitha Cobb," William Cobb's daughter-in-law, explains late 18th century frontier life to Jackie MacKenzie, left, and Mary Coward, right. Because the re-enactors don't recognize references from any year beyond 1791, Ms. Coward described herself as being from "Fort Nashborough" when asked.

The group as a whole also visited Roan Mountain, Tenn., Cherokee, North Carolina, and Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee. "I have never been on a trip like this," declared Dee Winningham, who said she's decided she'll never leave Tennessee. "I've got my plot picked out. I want to be buried on a hill here," she joked.
