C&C Millwright Donation Helps Pioneers Start Season Right

A donation of over $90,000 of excavation and construction by C&C Millwright Maintenance Company will help Tusculum College begin its football and soccer seasons with a new look this year. Last year, seating at Pioneer Field was limited to four rows of concrete bleachers at field level and portable bleachers high up on the hill near the press box.

Thanks to the installation of bleacher foundations by the company and the College's own purchase of new permanent bleachers, seating at Pioneer Field will expand to 3,500 this year.

The expansion of seating is just one of the changes being made to Pioneer Field as Tusculum joins the South Atlantic Conference and NCAA Division II. "C&C's generous gift and hard work on our behalf is much appreciated," said Robert E. Knott, president of the college. "It is a time of much excitement on campus. Our enrollment is up, and we are preparing to compete with institutions which have both high academic as well as high athletic standards We could not be in this strong position without the support of such friends as C&C Millwright."

"We are proud to support Tusculum College," said Jerry Fortner, vice president of the company. "The college serves the community well and over the years has been appreciative of our work. We are glad to be able to do this phase of the work to helpTusculum College as it enters the South Atlantic Conference."
