College enjoys visit of Russian student
Tusculum College often enjoys visits from people from all around the world. During the week of Sept. 7 the college was pleased to host 19-year-old Olga Shkrebko, who's visiting from Kuban State University in Krasnodar, Russia.
Olga sat in on classes, visit campus buildings, and met students, faculty and staff as a part of her visit to her friend, Jonas Hayes. Olga's family hosted Jonas' brother when he studied in Russia last fall.
Overall she has been in the United States for two months, having worked at Camp Kiniya in Vermont this summer. "It is very interesting to know another country," she said, "and I like being here because I have friends here." She also looks forward to coming back sometime in the future, she said.
She is a third-year student at the university, studying journalism. She hopes to work in either radio, television, or become a professional photographer. She already writes for a newspaper in her home city. "Now I'm going back and write about America," she said.
Friends and those interested in learning more about life in Russia may e-mail Olga at shkrebko@usa.net.
