The Tusculum College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team won the regional championship at the SIFE Regional Exposition and Career Opportunity Fair held April 9 in Charlotte, NC. The group was awarded a trophy and $1,000 for their presentation.
The TC SIFE team gave a presentation on the past year's outreach programs, which included the Capstone Business Strategy Game, Economic Literacy Survey, SIFE Web page, Mock Resume and Interview Workshop, and an upcoming concert on the Tusculum campus. The outreach programs take place in area high schools, with the aim of teaching students there about the free enterprise system.
The winning presentation was presided over by a panel of local and national business leaders and entrepreneurs who rated the overall effectiveness of each of the teams' efforts. The students also had the chance to meet with representatives from the Charlotte business community to discuss job opportunities.
Dr. Jerry Gehre, Tusculum College SIFE advisor, was names a Sam M. Walton Enterprise Fellow in recognition of his leadership and support of the team.
