Our famous sweatshirt
Tim Dalton, a TC freshman and member of the golf team, explained to his uncle, CBS Television Executive Robb Dalton, all about his new college while they were on a golf trip last summer at Pebble Beach Golf Course in California. Tim invited his uncle to visit the campus and, to help spread the word on his new college, he gave Robb a sweatshirt to wear in Hollywood. As a surprise to Tim, Robb arranged for the Tusculum sweatshirt to be worn in one of the TV shows he oversees: Pensacola, Wings of Gold starring James Brolin.
The shirt is worn by the character "Burner" during a football game. In the series, Burner is a Top Gun pilot played by Kenny Johnson. Johnson was recently featured in the Wesley Snipes feature film Blade.
Pensacola, Wings of Gold airs in the Tri-Cities on WAPK at 10 p.m. on Sundays and in Knoxville on WVLT, CBS, at 11:30 p.m. The episode featuring our sweatshirt will air the weekend of May 1 and 2 so mark your calendars!
The series is syndicated on stations around the country and in over 50 countries throughout the world.
Webmaster's Note: We have a good record of getting clothing on the air. Recently a Tusculum College soccer t-shirt was worn by a Mr. Patel, proprietor of the Andrew Johnson Motor Lodge in Greeneville, on a Comedy Central Daily Show spoof of Andrew Johnson's impeachment. Attentive viewers may have also glanced several of our attractive orange and black polar fleece shirts on the Late Show with David Letterman which aired Tuesday night, Feb. 16, 1999.
