Tusculum College English Students Organization hosts literature and writing conference

Author Nathan Long shares tips about writing to participants in the first annual Undergraduate Literature and Writing Conference Thursday (April 21) at Tusculum College. Twenty-two students read selected works of their poetry or presented papers about literary works during the conference, which was sponsored and coordinated by Tusculum's English Students Organization.

Participating were students from Appalachian State University, Bridgewater College, and the University of Virginia's College at Wise as well as Tusculum. The conference also included a workshop about academic integrity led by Kim Mullins, president of the English Students Organization.

The participants were encouraged to continue writing to hone their talent and find their own writing habit by Long, whose work has appeared in a number of journals, including Glimmer Train, Indiana Review, Story Quarterly, and Salt Hill.
